TOP TIPS...

One of the best things about being part of a camping community is that you can learn and share experiences and tips with other campers. Here are some of ours we've collected over the years, but if you have any top tips, then please contact us at the office on lifestyle@lastditchpitch.com and we'll post it up.

Slipping Away...

When preparing your van for winter, lower the jockey wheel to make the front of the van lower than the back. Rain or snow will simply run off the roof keeping it dryer and less likely to leak.

Carry On Camping !

Instead of lugging heavy objects around such as water carriers (when full), or the toilet waste (again when full), take a small folding sack barrow and put an end to those back braking jobs.

Glow Away !

Avoid grovelling around in the dark when putting your steadies (legs) down in the evening dust, just paint the steady (or leg) winder nuts with fluorescent paint.

A Flipping Good Time !

Take a pair of flip flops for each member of the family. Besides being easy to slip on and off for the pool and beach, they are brilliant to use in the showers. No more feet infections or cut toes on dodgy laid tiles.

Trafficking...

It is always nice to be close to facilities such as the showers, the toilet block and water supplies etc, but don't get too close as activities here can generate a lot of noise and foot traffic in the mornings or at night, not to mention the smells.

It's A Wind Up !!

When is the worst time your torch can run out of batteries..? Usually when you need the loo in the middle of the night, and you can guarantee it does.

Well not anymore with this wind up torch. Now you never need to worry whether the batteries are charged or not. Just wind up and go... Literally.

GET NETTED...

I have net curtains in my caravan and I like to wash them every season but it's a real pain having to undo and re hang them every time, any ideas on how to make it easier for me...?

A lot of caravans tend to have net curtains for privacy and these can be a nightmare when it comes to cleaning them. If you use Velcro strips to attach the curtains to the window sills instead of the usual ways of hanging them, taking them down to wash and put back up again will be so much easier.

TOW CHECK...

I'm looking to purchase another car, something a littler smaller than my estate, but still needing to pull my old Bailey Caravan. How can I check whether a car can pull what.

Funnily enough I stumbled across this website the other day www.whattowcar.com. You simply enter the make of car and caravan and hey presto... It tells you whether it's suitable or not.
